Sometimes you find your passion and sometimes your passion finds you. Sometimes you know what you want to do every day of your life and sometimes you just do something with good intentions and success turns it into a love of your life.



Passion is not exactly a science.


But there are things you can do to harness and leverage your passion and things you can do to explore turning a passion into a business. That’s where it gets exciting.


While we can’t tell you what your passion is, we can give you some guidelines for recognizing it and using it for business…


Don’t Pressure Yourself: First, try to avoid putting pressure on yourself to find your “life’s work” or your “purpose.” The fact is, you can fall in love with a lot of possible activities if you enjoy doing them and experience some success. Just walk a few steps down a path and see how it feels.


Look for Confluence and Sincronicity: Not all passions lend themselves to great Internet businesses. When exploring your passions, look for those ideas that seem to bring together all your life experience, skills and assets in ways you couldn’t have planned or expected.


You Might Have to Lead Up to It: Your ultimate passion may not appear just like you imagined it when you put it into practice as an online business. You might have to work your way up to the ultimate expession of your passion. Look for creative ways to accomplish that online.

When choosing your passion for online business success, it’s always a good practice to stay focused. Many people have a tendency to get caught up in the ideas and possibilities and, while that is an excellent place of potential and creativity, it can keep us distracted from choosing and moving forward.

Brainstorm, ideate, create and imagine possibilities…then choose and focus on the top 3 and stop the ideation process for awhile.

When choosing an area of passion for online success, it’s a good practice to let your personality into the equation. Favor ideas that bring out your unique personality in the form of passion, anger, humor and expression. What topics get you emotional? What do you care about? What do you feel needs to change in the world? These are great places to begin.

We teach what we most need to learn. That’s ok. Just be aware that your business proposition is going to be a process of learning and growth for you. That’s a good thing. That’s the whole idea. You’ll be a couple steps ahead of your followers, but always learning and growing and possibly changing your direction based on new discoveries. Welcome to the entrepreneurial process!

Ask Yourself The Right Questions

Ponder these questions and write down what comes to mind. Then ask a friend, partner or family member (one who supports you in a positive way) to give their responses…

  • What would you do if you had all the money in the world? What would you do AFTER you travel the world and buy everything you want? What would you do for work and meaning?
  • If you could choose a purpose for your life (rather than trying to discover what purpose is already there), what would you choose for your life purpose?
  • What do people come to you for most often? What do they seek your help with most often? Think about business contacts and also friends and family.
  • What would you change about the world if you could?
  • What would you want people to know and understand if you could magically make it happen with the push of a button?
  • How can you make people’s lives more fun and joyful?

Now go to your trusted and supportive friend or partner and ask him or her to help you find patterns in all these answers. Or, take this to your coach or mentor and ask.
